Concatenating network integration and application development supplies managers with the opportunity to transparently expand office operations converting technology into profit.
Accucom Consulting’s financial services competencies include:
• Technology Review and Certification
It is necessary to perform an initial but through survey of network and application processes. Here is where we discover any obstacle that can impede workflow and also allow us to make necessary recommendations to improve performance through design and implementation.
• Core applications
Financial software can be complex and our experience has provided us with installation of a myriad of products dating from the Schwartzatron and Bloomberg terminals to current web based clearing.

We have a long history of working with commodities and energy companies who also use a financial service model for managing their companies.
Hosting Facilities
As an ASP Accucom Consulting, Inc. provides secure "hardened
" facilities to house our client's servers and applications.
Application Service Providing allows Accucom to leverage our software
and networking management skills to monitor and distribute the
clients' programs. A central computing (server-centric) model
consolidates resources ( hardware, software and configuration)
at a single level and distributes the application to a "thin-client
( a workstation or terminal ) that requires little or no processing
power. In turn this reduces any initial infrastructure investment
and allows the client to reach their applications anytime and
anywhere. This server-centric/thin-client computing model allows
the host provider to apply application and programming upgrades
once and propagate them to all users. All of these processes take
place in a manned 24 hour 7 day a week facility with redundant
power and bandwidth vendors. Some of these applications are also
mirrored in a similar facility with equal redundancy. All of these
components can translate to consistent lower monthly costs.
Internet
Internet access is
no longer a luxury but a necessity. Most businesses today use
the Internet as frequently as the telephone. Whether it is sending
e-mail , instant messaging , file delivery and retrieval, research
or a delivered service it is now the backbone and conduit of B2B
information. Selecting the correct form of bandwidth to accommodate
the client's requirements has become a challenge. Our internal
Internet personnel resources have made this selection seamless.
Along with the right ISP and correct data streams are the considerations
for multiple conduits and transparent "fail-over" redundancies
to prevent minimum down time. Many of our clients enjoy the bandwidth
monitoring service we offer to alert them to potential disruptions
and allow them to prepare for these instances. Case studies available.
E-Mail
Accucom Consulting's Microsoft Certified engineers have been installing
MS- Exchange since its foundation. Are expertise travels well
beyond MS-Exchange to Lotus Notes, Novell GroupWise and Unix Send-Mail.
For clients who prefer POP3 Internet based accounts we have two
mail servers in two different locations providing each others
redundancy manned by a 24 hour technical staff in a multiple fiber
bandwidth and generator protected facility.
Remote Access
With the advent of inexpensive residential cable modems and DSL
offerings we've seen our client base increasingly request access
from remote locations to their offices. VPN, WAN connection, PC
Anywhere , Citirx , Terminal Server, VNC, Tarantella which solution
is right for your firm? Accucom Consulting has been answering
these questions since DOS (Jurassic Age of Computing) was the
only PC operating system choice. Currently Accucom Consulting
has many clients that have remote locations, branch offices and
wireless field representatives that use a combination of all the
technologies listed above.
Security / Anti-Virus
Security has come to mean much more than "is the front door
locked?" It is often a case of whose watching the door. With
products that provide Intrusion Detection, Stateful Inspection,
SMTP Gateway filters, Port blocking, Content Filtering and Authentication
Service we can in effect provide the client with a myriad of protection
and also a list of potential suspects looking to gain un-welcomed
entries to their network.
While all Internet users realize that Anti-virus is mandatory
not all users have an optimal configuration. Accucom Consulting
has deployed proven practices that are transparent to the client
but have provided an unparalleled success rate for arresting,
quarantining and deleting these intrusive annoyances. The latest
scheme by these detrimental developers is the adware or spyware
that invades your Internet preferences and reports your browsing
habits. We have confronted this nuisances with our own white paper
outlining the circumstances ( link for Randy's white paper)
IT Solutions Outsourcing
Accucom's experience on augmenting corporation's staff has been
two fold. In the early Nineties with a tentative economy we saw
companies not willing to hire in house which made them look to
temporary IT assistance . Throughout the decade as the economy
improved some of those same companies could not interview and
acquire employees fast enough to meet their technology requirements.
In both cases Accucom was able to provide competent technicians
as wells as project managers that not only met the requirements
but exceeded the expectations.
Further staffing assistance information can be obtained by contacting
our office @ 203-221-1212 or cmcloughlin@accucomci.com

HP Lessons Hurd: 10 Things the CEO`s Departure Has Taught Us About HP
With HP formidable CEO Mark Hurd out at HP and no replacement in sight, its quickly becoming clear that the venerable company is in desperate need of direction. Although its still churning out profits for its shareholders, there is little debating that things would be better if a strong leader was back at HPs helm. Hurd made a name for himself as one of the strongest and channel-centric CEOs the company has ever had. He made a point of regularly meeting with end-user customer companies at channel partner-hosted events. And he made bold aggressive moves to keep HP in the dominant position where it is, including acquisitions of EDS, 3Com and Palm. Regardless, Hurd is gone. And so far, HP has taught the tech world quite a bit about the company since he left. Many of the lessons are negative ones that the next CEO will need to address. But they are valuable lessons nonetheless.
